IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Property owners pay taxes based on millage rates and some exemptions. School taxes are based on property values and vary by district. In 2007, owner-occupied homes will be exempt from school property taxes. At press time, setting of the 2006-07 millage rates for York and Lancaster counties had been delayed. To calculate the tax bill in York County, go to www.yorkcountygov.com. Within the Tax Collector section, find the assessed property value through the "Taxes Online" link. Then, within the Tax Assessor section, check the "How to Estimate Real Estate Tax" link for the updated rates.
